Junior High School

The Junior High School Unit of the High School Department aims to:

reaffirm, reinforce and intensify the spiritual, moral, civic, cultural, emotional, physical and intellectual formation acquired by the learners in Grade School;
prepare them for Senior High School;
develop them to be advocates of social change for nation building; and
instill in them the values of the ideal Bosconian.

The Academic Curriculum of the Junior High School Department is based on the K to 12 Curriculum of the Department of Education, though some modifications are made to conform with the peculiarities of the Salesian Educational System.

aim to: Academic Programs

TECHNICAL PROGRAM The Technical Program responds to the K-12 Curriculum requirements set by the Department of Education (DepEd) under the Technology and Livelihood Education area (TLE). It is aligned with the school’s vision-mission, and is articulated in the Academic Curriculum in preparation for the Senior High School, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and in technology-related courses in college.

The subjects offered in this curriculum include Automotive Technology, Computer Technology, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Drafting Technology, and Mechanical Technology. The curriculum for Grades 7 and 8 follows the General Technology orientation in the four cluster areas, namely, Automotive-Mechanical Technology (AT/MT), Electro-Electrical Technology (ET/ELX), Computer Technology (CT) and Industrial Drafting Technology (IDT). The time allotment for each technology is one and a half (1.5) hours; hence, a total of six (6) hours per week for these four (4) technologies.

By the end of Grade 8, the students are evaluated for their specialization in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Technology, Computer Technology, Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, and Industrial Drafting Technology for Grades 9 and 10. The evaluation for specialization is based on the following criteria:
a) Aptitude Test
b) average grade from 1st to 4th quarters in Grade 7 and 1st to 3rd quarters in Grade 8 and
c) shop preference or choice of Technology for specialization. In the specialized Technology in Grades 9 and 10, the time allotment is eight (8) hours per week, and its distribution are as follows:

The TECHNOLOGY program introduces the students to the major concepts and principles offered by each area of specialization.

It is during SHOPWORK or the manual part where the students are guided to put into actual practice what they have acquired in theories.

: Computer-Aided Drafting and Design for Grade 9 aims to form a Bosconian who:
     a. can create basic engineering working drawing;
     b. can apply the principles of 2D drawing;
     c. can analyze basic engineering drawing; and
     d. communicate ideas through graphic designs or symbols using AutoCAD software.

ADVANCED CAD: Computer-Aided Drafting and Design for Grade 10 aims to form a Bosconian who:
     a. is able to create 3D designs using solid, surface and mesh modeling tools;
     b. can apply appropriate materials and lighting on 3D models;
     c. knows how to use his skills in creating realistic 3D drawing and designs with full color rendering using AutoCAD software.
